Notts Sports Club Lady Bay (Day 2 of 3)
Nottinghamshire 189 & 112-1 Leics  601-7dec
Notts trail by 300 runs

On Radio 2 Chris Evans had declared on his morning show that Sept 1st was Christmas Day.

Leicestershire's batsmen must have thought the same as they tucked in to the Notts bowling on a pitch that had flattened out so much that the ball very rarely passed the bat.

Shiv Thakor (153) Lewis Hill (143) and captain Jaques Du Toit (131) all helped themselves to centuries as the score mounted throughout the day.

99-0 overnight turned into 311-2 by lunch. After lunch the real carnage took place with 251 runs being added from 36 overs the score standing at 562-3.

After tea wickets fell as Leicester set out to reach 600. Sam Wood was the beneficiary ending with figures of 5-80 as the declaration came on 601-7.

The rest of the bowling figures as the past Glamorgan scorer and public address announcer Byron Denning once announced  to the Swansea crowd ‘are not for those of a nervous disposition.’

Notts closed on 112-1 in the 25 overs left in the day for the loss of Karl Turner (25). Neil Edwards took the attack to the Leicester bowlers and was 69 not out at the end of play.
