At Notts Sports Club Lady Bay
Day 1 of 3
Nottinghamshire 189 Leicestershire 185-1

Notts were in a reasonable position at 138-4 mainly due to the contributions of Steven Mullaney and Neil Edwards at lunch on day one of this Second Eleven friendly.

Mullaney was the most fluent of the two with 44 of his 49 coming from boundaries and looked comfortable against the pace attack, however just five minutes before lunch he was caught at slip by William Jones.

Edwards had earlier reached 41 before he was leg before to Shiv Thakor for 41.

The afternoon session did not begin well for Notts as Sam Wood was struck in the ribs by a delivery from the lively Oliver Freckenham and had to retire hurt.

Scott Elstone who had been so fluent the previous day against Glamorgan did not have much of the strike immediately after lunch but struggled to find his touch as he batted for two hours for just 15 before being sold down the river by a call from George Bacon to a push to point and was run out by the proverbial mile.

Frekenham who generated a good pace finished with 4-74 as Notts were dismissed for 189.

Leicester made the most of the eighteen overs prior to tea scoring 99 without loss as the openers Jones and Lewis Hill made light of the Notts attack.

Second ball after the interval Notts had what proved to be their only success as Jones edged to keeper Sam Kelsall off the bowling of Simon Webster for 45.

When bad light brought play to a close with eleven overs remaining Leicester were only four runs behind, Hill on 77 and Thakor 44.
