Nottinghamshire’s Samit Patel, Harry Gurney and Andre Adams are expected to play for the MCC in the Emirates Twenty 20 tournament today.

The team will face a select side from the Kerala Premier League in the second semi-final of the tournament, before meeting the winner of Sussex v Lancashire in the final.

“It’s a privilege playing for the MCC side,” said Patel.

“It’s good experience and fun to play in different countries with different players.”

Muttiah Muralitharan will captain the side, with Sri Lankan teammate Prasanna Jawardenee also included, while England’s Matt Prior and James Anderson are also expected to be involved for Sussex and Lancashire respectively.

"It’s a huge privilege to be asked to captain an MCC team, and I was delighted to accept the invitation,” said Muralitharan.

“We’ve got a very strong squad going out to Dubai for the competition so I’m looking forward to playing alongside them all.

"I always enjoy seeing new innovations in the game of cricket and it’s very exciting to be playing with a pink ball.

“Hopefully we’ll see it develop even further after this tour."

The Emirates T20 precedes the traditional four-day MCC v Champion County fixture, which will start on Sunday.
