Notts Outlaws batsman David Hussey has praised the ‘squad effort’ that secured a place at the Yorkshire Bank 40 Final on Saturday.
The Outlaws used 16 players in the group stage of the tournament with Stuart Broad set to become the seventeenth if he is selected to play in the Lord’s showpiece.
“Graeme and Stuart are great players and I want great players to play for Notts but the flip side is that two guys will miss out but it’s important to remember that everyone has contributed,” said Hussey.
“Winning the trophy would be a brilliant feeling and the entire squad will go down in history if we can win a Lord’s final.”
Hussey tops the Nottinghamshire averages in the YB40 with 145 runs at 72.5 from five innings.
“I was fortunate to stride out at Lord’s in a One Day International against England last year and the atmosphere was just incredible,” he said.
“My love for Lord’s finals has grown throughout my time at Nottinghamshire and reaching one has been a long-held target for us.
“We’re there now and we’re focussed on making the most of a great occasion.”
Broad and Swann will train with Nottinghamshire today and throughout the week as they look to secure their place in the team.
