Stuart Broad says Lord’s glory with Notts would be the perfect end to a great summer for him.

The 27-year-old has already won the Ashes with England.

And he is now targeting a first one-day title for Notts in 24 years by winning the Yorkshire Bank 40 final against Glamorgan tomorrow (11.30am).

“Having beaten New Zealand in a Test series, got to the final of the Champions Trophy and won the Ashes 3-0, it would be a lovely way to finish the summer,” he said.

Broad is set to lead the Notts bowling attack at Lord’s, after being released by England to play in the final.

And he will be following in his dad’s footsteps if he can inspire his county to victory.

Chris Broad opened the batting for Notts the last time they won a one-day title back in 1989.

“It’s been a long time so there is a lot of excitement,” added Stuart.

“I’ve been speaking to my dad about it and my mum.

“She talks about how amazing the atmosphere was and how much it meant to everyone.

“I can tell that myself because I was at (Nottingham) Forest last Saturday and I lost count of the amount of people who said they remember the last time we were there.

“It’s amazing for us to have got back there, but I think people remember the winners and it’s important we make sure that’s us.”

Spinner Graeme Swann has also been released by England to play for Notts, who are red-hot favourites to win.

“It’s a very special occasion for the whole of Nottinghamshire,” added Broad.

“The guys have worked extremely hard to get there, playing some brilliant white-ball cricket.

“But being a finalist really means nothing, it’s all about winning.”

Broad has certainly enjoyed some famous victories at Lord’s with England and he is on the batting and bowling honours boards at the home of cricket.

He says playing in his first Lord’s final for Notts will be just as special.

“It will be very special,” he said.

“I love Lord’s as a cricket ground, I really enjoy playing there and it will be great for the guys to experience Lord’s on the big stage as well.

“It would mean everything to win.

“People remember the winners of trophies and it’s up to us to do that.

“We’ll need to be right on it to do that because Glamorgan have played some really good stuff to get there.

“We’ll need to make sure we’re fully switched on and individuals stand up and do their roles, which I’m sure we will do.”

Notts Outlaws face Glamorgan in the final of this summer's Yorkshire Bank 40 competition this Saturday, with play starting at 11.30.
