Nottinghamshire have been awarded the ECB Business of Cricket Award for Innovation in recognition of the Trent Bridge Ashes Blog.

The blog housed 328 articles, galleries, podcasts and videos and served to take England and Australia supporters behind the scenes throughout the first Investec Ashes Test of 2013.

The vast majority of the content was written by a team of volunteers who had responded to a call to back the Ashes Legacy Partnership - a series of community schemes spanning the Investec Ashes Tests at Trent Bridge, Lord’s and the Emirates ICG.

“The interest in our Ashes Test and the scale of our volunteering scheme gave us the capacity to implement very ambitious plans and the blog was our way of documenting everything that was happening on and off the field,” said Michael Temple, Nottinghamshire’s Head of Marketing & Communications.

“We are extremely grateful to our volunteers who took great pride in finding unique content and presenting it in an engaging manner to highlight a truly memorable week at Trent Bridge.”

The blog was also supported by Experience Nottinghamshire, Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council who sat on two working groups chaired by Trent Bridge personnel to harness the opportunities presented by hosting major matches.

The Marketing, Business and Transport Group and the Community, Volunteering and Legacy Group will re-convene to make plans for the Investec Test Matches against India in 2014 and Australia in 2015.
