The Academy put last week's defeat behind them and got back to winning ways with a 107-run victory over Caythorpe, Luke Wood claiming figures of 6-29.

Caythorpe won the toss and asked the Academy to bat first and although they suffered an early loss, Azad (5) caught at 2nd slip in the 3rd over (6-1), the early order batsmen consolidated well.

Sam Kelsall and Tom Rowe put on 61 for the 2nd wicket, Rowe (25) suffering a similar fate to Azad, caught 2nd slip, again by Jim Hindson off the bowling of Tim Haines (16th over).

Sam Wood joined Kelsall and they added 46 runs before Kelsall (46) was bowled by James Hawley (113-3) in the 30th over.

Wood continued with Anuj Dal in an excellent stand of 81 before Wood was caught in the deep in the 40th over for a very entertaining 82 (194-4).

The Academy lost another four wickets getting the score up to 226 for 8 by the 46th over, Dal having scored 30.

Brett Hutton (25*) and Ben Kitt (6*) saw the remaining overs out and the innings closed on 253-8 off their allotted 50 overs, Matt Dowman returning the best figures for Caythorpe, 3-26 off 5 overs.

Caythorpe were rocked in their reply, losing James Hawley (0) in the 2nd over to a very good running catch by Ben Kitt off Luke Wood's bowling (2-1) and George Bacon bowled Darren Bicknell for 1 (5-2).

In the 8th over Luke Wood trapped Steve Allcoat (11) lbw (21-3) which brought Matt Dowman to the crease. He and Mierkalns seemed to settle things down and had moved the score on to 78 by the 18th over.

That was before Dowman (17) drove a ball off Bacon which Adam Tillcock did well to catch diving to his left to claim the fourth wicket.

In the 20th over Mierkalns (48) tried to pull Bacon to the boundary and was caught by Luke Wood (89-5) before James Oldham (25) got himself run out by Dal whilst everyone seemed to be deliberating a turned down lbw appeal (120-6) in the 26th over.

The visitors lost two wickets in two balls to Luke Wood in the 37th over, captain Andy Hunt (5) adjudged lbw and then Jim Hemmings bowled first ball (139-8).

Wood then repeated the event in the 39th over to wrap the game up when he bowled Adeel Shafique for 5 then trapped Tim Haines lbw next ball, the final score 146 all out and 20 points for the Academy.

Wood finished with figures of 6-29 and was ably backed up by George Bacon who got 3-49.
