Nottinghamshire's international Twenty20 contingent failed to fire as New Zealand avenged their defeat with a comprehensive victory in the second encounter of a three match series.

England slipped to 137 all out chasing a victory target of 193 after asking New Zealand to bat. Michael Lumb scored 17 but single figure scores from Alex Hales, Samit Patel and Stuart Broad compounded England's misery.

"We made the wrong decision at the toss, the theory being that on a small ground you can chase virtually anything with wickets in hand," said Broad.

"192-6 is a big score but, with 50-yard boundaries, you are always in the game. However, the stats also say that if you lose three wickets in the first six overs you have a 95% chance of losing.

"We will learn from this, it was a poor performance all round."

The series will be decided in Wellington on Friday.

New Zealand will face England at Trent Bridge for a NatWest Series One Day International 5 June 2013 and match tickets are now on general sale.
