Hassan Azad scored an unbeaten second innings 97 to see Nottinghamshire's Second XI to victory against Yorkshire, carrying his bat through the entire match with a total of 219 runs.

Yorkshire resumed their second innings on 23-1, a lead of 116. However, a stubborn Notts attack slowed their progress and kept the batsmen quiet. Bacon accounted for Hodgson and Pyrah in the 12th, Yorkshire 67-3.

Hodd joined the unbeaten Callis, who made his 50 before Bacon had him caiught by Graeme White for 54. At 110-4 wickets began to fall quickly. White took three in a row, first having Robinson caught by Franks, Hodd stumped by Cross, then in the 21st over Rhodes steered one of his deliveries to Sam Wood.

Just 27 runs had been added for the last three wickets, and the next over Bacon struck once more, Jack Leaning caught behind by Cross. On 146-8 Yorkshire declared, leaving Notts a target of 240 to win from the ewmaining 72 overs. George Bacon finished with 4-34 off 5.5 overs and Graeme White 3-31 off 3 overs. In the four overs before lunch, Kelsall and Azad knocked 9 off the total, and after resuming continued to 22 before Kelsall was caught off Ben Coad.

Sam Wood alongside Azad took Notts past 50, before Wood was stumped off Carver. Azad passed fifty with a boundary, taking the total past 100 in the 30th over. Tea was taken after 35 with Notts 117-2.

After the break the pair continued in similar fashion, the 240 target very much in side. Dal reached 50 in the 51st over, Notts 168-2, but shortly after the pair’s partnership reached 100 Dal was caught behind off Pyrah for 66.

Tillcock joined Azad, still unbeaten throughout the match, and it was fitting that he stroked the final boundary to win the match in the 64th, 97 not out, backed up by 22 from Tillcock.

Nottinghamshire won by 7 wickets taking 21 points from the match, Azad scoring an unbeaten 219 through both innings.
