Wessels To Return
Against Scottish Saltires
Match Preview | 6th May 2012
Riki Wessels will be a given an opportunity to prove his fitness when Notts Outlaws begin their Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign in Scotland on Monday.
Wessels, who demonstrated solid form with a knock of 113 against Worcestershire at Trent Bridge, has been out of action since being struck on the side of the glove in net practice but has made a quick recovery having struggled to even grip a bat two weeks ago.
"We're without Samit Patel and James Taylor in our next Championship match and we want Riki to fill one of those places," said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
"His last innings for us was a hundred and he's in line to be one of two players to come into the side against Middlesex."
Newell has rested key LV= County Championship performers in the CB40 in previous seasons and seems set to maintain a similar policy with Andre Adams left out of a 13-man squad to travel north of the border.
Andy Carter and Harry Gurney will both hope to feature having sat out of the victory over Lancashire with Taylor and Patel both set to play ahead of next week's England Lions versus West Indies encounter.
