Notts Premier League
Notts Academy 246-9 (50 overs) drew with Welbeck Colliery 191-5 (50 overs)
Academy 16pts Welbeck 9pts

There was an end of term feel in the Academy dressing room for the final game of the season at Welbeck.

The normal lower order batsmen were given their chance to shine in the early part of the innings.

Brett Hutton scorned his usual free hitting role to score 56 from 102 balls in an innings lasting two hours, the spin attack of Jon Ball, Rich Bentley and  Martyn Dobson being particularly hard to get away.

Adam Dobb, batting at five, played the most fluent knock of those promoted scoring 40 in a cameo of an innings from just 31 balls with 34 coming in boundaries.

Sam Kelsall coming in at six again played attractively and ensured that Welbeck would be set a decent target with 65 before being out with the score on 215-7.

Tom Rowe, the leading run scorer for the Academy this season, found himself entering the fray at number nine and Sam Wood made an improbable last man. They added 20 for the last wicket in two overs with Rowe scoring 20 not out at the end of the 50 overs.

Guy Darwin was the leading wicket taker for Welbeck with 4-70.

Welbeck were quickly reduced to 12-2 and it soon became obvious that their target was the eight points that were needed to retain fourth spot in the table behind the Academy.

Martyn Dobson was the more fluent of the early batsmen with 47 and when he departed at 82-4 in the 26th over , from then on the rest of the innings relied on the wicket taker Guy Darwin who rounded off a good all round performance by being unbeaten on 81 as Welbeck garnered the necessary points ending on 191-5.
