Nottinghamshire duo Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann have been shortlisted for BBC East Midlands Sports Personality of the Year.

The Ashes winners face competition from swimmer Rebecca Adlington who won the award in 2008.

Batsman Alex Hales has been shortlisted for the Brian Clough Breakthrough Award along with Derby County defender Mark O’Brien and Leicester Tigers centre Manu Tuilagi.

Winners in eight categories will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at Loughborough University on Thursday 17 November.
