Wayne Noon was full of praise for his young bowling attack as they stuck to their task of bowling out Yorkshire for a second time in the match on a pitch which gave them little assistance.
Akhil Patel claimed 4-53 from a mammoth 35 overs whilst Sam Wood took 3-74 from 27 overs. Jake Ball took 1-58 and Brett Hutton 2-65 with George Bacon not claiming a wicket in the second innings from twelve overs but playing a crucial part in the victory with three wickets in an over in the Yorkshire first innings.
Notts had to wait for eighty minutes before parting Geldart and Lees, the overnight pair , with Bacon diving at cover to dismiss Geldart for 110 off the bowling of Wood.
Three balls later Hodgson was smartly caught by Wessels at short leg then Patel struck having Lilley leg before to leave the home side on 186-4.
Wainwright and Lees added 65 for the fifth wicket when again two wickets fell quickly, Wood catching the former leg before for 29 and then Patel claiming the wicket of the obstinate Lees who had batted for four hours for his 77.
Hargreaves (47) and the tail held Notts up further and it was not until after tea that Hutton came on to dismiss Hannon-Dalby with his first ball to finish an innings that had lasted 119 overs, a tribute to the staying power of the young attack.
Chasing 56 in twelve overs for victory, Notts got the runs for the loss of Wood with four overs to spare. Patel and Wessels, who had contributed so much to the win, were together when the target was reached.
