Mick Newell will name his strongest possible side when Notts Outlaws face Worcestershire Royals in Friday’s Friends Life t20 at Trent Bridge (play starts 7.10pm).

Notts need to beat Worcestershire to secure top spot in the North Group and with it a quarter-final fixture against the fourth placed team in the South Group.

Whatever the result, Notts can look forward to a home quarter-final on Saturday 6, Sunday 7 or Monday 8 August.

“We want to win the match and the group and we’ll name our strongest team to try and make that happen,” said Newell.

“We’re defending an unbeaten home record in the competition and we are very keen to keep that intact.”

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will join Alex Hales at the top of the order with Riki Wessels, Adam Voges and Samit Patel completing the top five.

Graeme White will be favoured to Scott Elstone with Darren Pattinson likely to be joined by Andre Adams and Luke Fletcher in the pace attack although Ben Phillips and Jake Ball will also be considered.

Worcestershire must win to guarantee their quarter-final spot and will include Tamim’s international captain Shakib Al Hasan in their team.
