Derbyshire 214-7 (40 overs) lost to Nottinghamshire 217-5 by 5 wickets
Notts completed their group stage of the Trophy competition retaining their unbeaten record to ensure a semi-final tie against either Kent or Glamorgan at Trent Bridge.
Derby were asked to bat first on a dampish morning at Denby where occasional showers came scudding through but prevented any stoppage in play.
Two early wickets for Dan Cumming put the home side on the back foot at 24-2 but Lineker (68) and Slater (52) redeemed the situation with a stand of 93 for the third wicket .
Scott Elstone then dismissed them both in a tidy spell of 2-32 from seven overs and when Poynton was bowled by Hutton the score stood at 151-5 in the 34th over.
The taking of the batting power play saw the faster bowlers return & the scoring rate increase, further wickets for Cumming and Hutton however retained Notts dominance with Siddique not out on 49 at the close of the innings. Cumming finished with 3-36 and Hutton returned 2-32.
Akhil Patel and Neil Edwards came out with all guns blazing has they struck 68 off the compulsory eight overs of power play.
The introduction of spin accounted for Edwards (35) and Ali Brown who hit a rapid 36 both caught at mid wicket of the spin of Needham.
Patel had scored his fifty from just 45 balls & despite the loss of Scott Elstone run out for ten seemed destined to bat through, however he was caught in the deep having scored 83 with 40 coming in boundaries.
Sam Wood was dismissed for 26 when Notts were five runs short of their target but Sam Kelsall (17 not out) struck the winning boundary with 15 deliveries to spare
