Darren Pattinson set the tone for a dominant performance with two wickets in his first over as Notts completed a Friends Provident t20 double over Derbyshire Falcons.
Pattinson bowled Wes Durston, who scored a commanding century at Trent Bridge last Friday, and then saw Chesney Hughes caught by Graeme White.
Dirk Nannes compounded the home side’s woes with a third Notts wicket that ended any hopes of an early Derbyshire onslaught as they slipped to 2-3.
Garry Park contributed 66 to a Derbyshire score of 152-7 which didn’t trouble the Notts batsmen.
"It was a fantastic effort by our opening bowlers and we managed to control their innings," said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
"Park played well to get them towards a half-decent score but I was delighted with our batting effort and particularly pleased that Matt Wood got an unbeaten fifty because he played well against Lancashire and perhaps didn't get the credit that he deserved."
Chris Read sat out the match with a groin injury but will travel to Durham where Newell hopes he can prove his fitness.
"I'm hopeful that Chris Read can play but I've got no complaints about Bilal's wicket keeping and I have no worries about keeping him in the team."
A confident 27 from Alex Hales and a decisive 95-run partnership from David Hussey (65) and Matt Wood (51 not out) saw Notts secure victory with two overs to spare.
Notts have a four point cushion at the top of the northern section.
