Paul Franks has been recalled to the Notts Outlaws team to face Warwickshire Bears at Edgbaston this evening.

Franks hasn’t featured in the last two matches due to the inclusion of England bowler Stuart Broad and has been asked to improve his variation by Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“Dirk Nannes bowls at 90 miles per hour and takes wickets but the bowlers without express pace need to utilise slower balls, bouncers and yorkers and that’s what I’ve asked Paul Franks to do,” said Newell.

“Darren Pattinson has had two excellent games and we’ve got good depth even when Ryan and Stuart are unavailable as is the case at Warwickshire this evening.”

Samit Patel will look to build on his impressive form having taken 3-26 against Lancashire on Tuesday after impressive knocks of 62 and 63 in his two previous games.

“Samit thrives on opportunities to be the match-winner and I’ve been pleased with his form in one day cricket this season,” said Newell.

“Beating Lancashire was particularly pleasing because they are a good side in all forms of cricket but the games are coming thick and fast and we have to shift our focus to Warwickshire.”

Aside from the inclusion of Paul Franks and the removal of Stuart Broad, Newell will name an unchanged line-up for the game at Edgbaston (play starts 5.30pm).
