Nottinghamshire bowler Charlie Shreck has signed a new two year contract that commits him to the club until the end of the 2012 season.

Shreck was restricted to five LV= County Championship appearances last season having endured a series of injuries but Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell hopes he can recapture the form of previous years that saw him twice crowned player of the year at Trent Bridge.

"His one day appearances will be limited because our intention is to keep him fresh for our championship matches." - Mick Newell

“Charlie has made good progress in the off-season and we intend to find some overseas cricket for him in the New Year to help him achieve match fitness,” said Newell.

“His one day appearances will be limited because our intention is to keep him fresh for our championship matches where he has made big contributions in the past.

“It is very important that we maintain a strong group of quick bowlers and Charlie is very much part of that.”

Shreck will compete with Andre Adams, Paul Franks, Darren Pattinson, Luke Fletcher, Andy Carter, Jake Ball and new signing Ben Phillips for a place in the Nottinghamshire team next season.
