Yorkshire clinched victory with a leg bye from the penultimate ball in an exciting climax to Nottinghamshire's Second Eleven Trophy match at the Notts Sports Club.

Notts were put into bat &and after losing the opening pair Hales and Edwards with the score on 12-2 ,suffered a further blow when Matthew Wood took a knock on the elbow from Richard Pyrah which caused him to retire hurt. Thankfully a scan showed no break but severe bruising and he will take no part in the Second Eleven Championship match beginning on Wednesday.

Notts were indebted to captain Steven Mullaney for another responsible knock of 85 with three sixes and six fours. Mullaney faced 91 balls and scored his last 35 from just 16 balls being particularly severe on Pyrah who went for twenty in his final over.

Yorkshire were thankful for the contribution from Garry Balance for his 67, supported by Pyrah with 38. Notts bowled tightly and fielded well with two run outs from Akhil Patel and substitute fielder Scott Elstone.

When the last over started the visitors needed seven for victory. Six came from the first three balls from Andrew Carter, who then took the ninth wicket that of Rafique caught by Stanworth behind the stumps. The scores were level with two balls remaining, but a leg bye sealed the win for the visitors.
