Nottinghamshire bowler Darren Pattinson could feature against Somerset next week after a scan revealed no serious damage to his ankle.

Pattinson wasn't considered for selection for this week's game against Kent after reporting discomfort in the ankle that troubled him throughout last season.

He will be asked to bowl in the nets on Monday and given every opportunity to prove his fitness before the team is selected for the Somerset match.

"Darren had ankle trouble last season so it was important that we took precautions but this isn't a recurrence of the same problem and he should be fine in a few days," said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
