Notts Second Eleven ended the first day of their 3-day friendly match against the Scotland Lions at Cleethorpes in a promising position.
Batting first, Notts scored 222 thanks to an unbeaten 60 from skipper Scott Elstone who along with Adam Shepherd (34) rescued Notts from a position of 124-7 with an eighth wicket stand of 70.
Earlier Ben McGuire took the attack to the Lions bowlers with a typically aggressive 44 off 27 balls with 40 coming in boundaries, before being run out.
On a pitch which offered something for everyone and a fast outfield, 150 runs in the Notts score came from boundaries. The pick of the Scotland bowlers was Gordon Goudie with 5-52.
Notts were fielding a side comprised mainly of Academy players and they must have been pleased to have the visitors on 94-6 by the close. Jake Ball (3-35) and Brett Hutton (3-50) caused problems for the batsmen.
Three members of the Scotland side played in the ODI against Australia last week.
