Young seam duo Luke Fletcher and Andy Carter have signed new two year contracts with Nottinghamshire.
Fletcher enjoyed a rise to prominence in 2009, taking 29 LV= County Championship wickets at an average of 27.58.
Carter was named Second Eleven Player of the Year after dominating the wicket-taking charts and made his first team debut in the NatWest Pro40 competition.
“Both players have made significant progress over the past 12 months and they will continue to improve throughout the term of these new deals,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“Luke has shown that he is able to make an impact in all forms of the game and he should be aiming to become a regular first team fixture.
“Andy has always had raw pace but he is honing that now and his performances in the Second Eleven have been exceptional.”
Fletcher has been earmarked by Newell as a future all-rounder after scoring a career high 92 against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl in June.
“In all honesty I surprised myself this season because I hadn’t expected to feature as prominently as I did,” said Fletcher.
“Next season will be important for me but I’ll just stick to the basics and try to maintain my accuracy and consistency.”
Carter was the Outlaws’ leading wicket-taker in NatWest Pro40 and is keen to feature more prominently.
“Competition for places is tough but I’ll work hard throughout the winter to put myself in the frame,” said Carter.
“We’ve made some good signings and I want to be involved in the new campaign.”
