Akhil Patel stole the honours of the first day of the Championship game against Glamorgan at the Swalec stadium by scoring his second championship hundred in consecutive games.
 
He followed his 120 against MCC young Cricketers with another fine knock of 136 in Notts first day total of 335-6. He reached his hundred in 231 minutes from 209 balls with 16 fours, a mixture of strong drives through the off side and leg side pulls.
 
Along with Will Jefferson he put on 131 for the first wicket. During the stand on a dull day, when the players left the field  twice for rain & bad light.

A timely floodlight test aided conditions and Will Jefferson, who had not hit a boundary for 88 balls, ht four quick boundaries under artificial light before being caught behind for 52.
 
Matt Wood making his first appearance of the season was bowled first ball.
 
Sam Kelsall continued in his own unflappable manner adding 42 with Paul Franks before the latter played on for 20. Scott Elstone fell for no score and at 280, Kelsall lobbed a catch to point.

Damian Crawley (31 not out) and Kevon Cooper (27 not out) took Notts to maximum batting points just before the close.
