Trent Bridge will bid to host one of three Ashes Tests in 2013 following the confirmation of allocated and available major matches between 2012 and 2016.

The Riverside and The Brit Oval have been awarded Ashes Tests in 2013 whilst Trent Bridge will host two England v Australia Twenty20 internationals that year after winning one of seven Major Match Packages.

The Brit Oval and Headingley were excluded from the bidding process because they are already in possession of long-term staging agreements.

The other seven Category A grounds, including Trent Bridge, were invited to bid for their preferred package of matches.

“The most important aspect of our strategy was to secure at least one Major Match each year and we are delighted to have been given one of our preferred packages,” said Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive Derek Brewer.

“We felt that continuity was very important and we were keen to avoid having a season without an England match at Trent Bridge.”

One day internationals against India and Pakistan at Trent Bridge will follow in 2014 and 2015 as well as a Twenty20 international against Australia in 2016.

Further matches will be allocated to the nine Category A venues with 12 Tests, 19 ODIs and 10 Twenty20 Internationals between 2010 and 2016 still open to bidding.

“The unallocated Ashes Tests in 2013 and 2016 and the unallocated Sri Lanka Test in 2014 remain open for bidding and the process will be very competitive,” said Brewer.

“We expect to learn where these games will take place early in 2010.”

England will face Bangladesh in a One Day International and Pakistan in a Test at Trent Bridge next year and Sri Lanka (ODI) and India (Test) in 2011.
