Ryan Sidebottom registered season best figures of 5-59 to establish a winning opportunity for Nottinghamshire at Scarborough.

Sidebottom had Kruis caught out by Andre Adams to close Yorkshire’s first innings on 231, giving Notts a first innings lead of 164. Following on, Yorkshire reached 14-1 with Sidebottom inducing Rudolph to edge to David Hussey at slip with the final ball of the day.

Andre Adams backed up his batting heroics with a devastating seven over spell in which he removed Sayers, Wainwright and Gale whilst conceding just six runs.

“Ryan and Andre bowled particularly well, Fletch kept it tight and Paul Franks took a wicket as well so I’m pleased with our bowling effort,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“There’s enough time left to win and if there’s any lack of confidence in the Yorkshire camp then we need to try and take advantage of that.

“McGrath and Sayers will be key wickets for us tomorrow and we’ll need to bowl a lot of overs to force a result because it’s more than likely that we’ll have to bat again.

“It’s difficult at out grounds because the covers and mops aren’t quite as effective and rain means that we lose more time than we usually would but the worst we’ll come away with is 11 points and we’ll push hard to earn more than that.”
