Andrew Carter bowled himself into the record books and Notts to a narrow 15 run victory over Warwickshire at Welbeck.

Chasing a further 133 to reach the 160 required for victory, Carter wreaked havoc with the Warwickshire batsmen, reducing them to 70-6.

Carter's figures of 6-43 and 7-56 gave him match figures of 13-99 the best ever figures for a Notts bowler in the Second Eleven Championship beating the 13-123 by Richard Bates against Hampshire at Worksop College in 1996.

“Andrew has taken 34 wickets in five games, he’s improved his fitness  and he’s shown that he can be consistent when he’s bowling long spells,” said Second Eleven Coach Wayne Noon.

“We set him a goal of staying fit and playing every game for the Second Eleven this season and he’s on track at the moment. He realises that we have an exceptionally strong group of bowlers at the club but if we accrue injuries then I’ll have no qualms about putting him forwards.”

Scott Elstone had Choudhry caught at short leg by Akhil Patel to take the seventh wicket but Javid and Barker then added 28 for the 8th wicket before Will Jefferson took the second of his three catches to remove barker for 23.

Carter then struck again in his fourth over after lunch having Best well caught by Jefferson and then completed victory when wicketkeeper Greg Wood held on to an edge from last man Anyon.

Notts took 21 points from the match which lifted them to second place in the Second Eleven Championship table, 16 points behind Yorkshire who have played the same number of matches and eleven ahead of Lancashire who have a game in hand.
