Mick Newell hopes that Ali Brown and Matt Wood can take advantage of NatWest Pro40 fielding restrictions to establish winning platforms when this season’s campaign begins on Sunday.

“The team has a similar makeup to that which we employed in the Twenty20 Cup and Matt and Ali will be looking to capitalise during the first 15 overs,” said Newell.
“We’ve got a good record in this format and we’ve had five successive seasons in the top division but Somerset are one of the strongest batting teams we’ll face and will provide a stern test.”
Mark Wagh will bat at three having been omitted from the Outlaws’ Twenty20 campaign with David Hussey, Samit Patel and Will Jefferson adding firepower to the middle order.
Luke Fletcher, Paul Franks and Darren Pattinson all play having rested throughout Nottinghamshire’s LV County Championship game against Durham in place of Ryan Sidebottom, Andre Adams and Charlie Shreck.
Play begins at 1.45pm.
