Voges Scores First Notts Hundred

Voges Scores First Notts Hundred

Featured News | 7th August 2009

Adam Voges capitalised on a flat deck at Horesham with a composed century to give Nottinghamshire the upper hand

Voges’ unbeaten 117, his first hundred for the club, included 18 fours and an 18 run over and was heavily dependent on a 168-run partnership with Samit Patel.

Nottinghamshire will take a 120 run lead into the final day aiming to set up a challenging declaration as soon as possible.

“We’ll look to push hard for an hour in the morning and score quickly to maximise our chances of winning the game,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“We need to set a target which will keep them behind for most of the day and we’ve got a middle order that can help us to do that.

“Adam has played very well and it was a deserving century for a player that has come so close a few times this season.”

Persistent rain meant a mid-afternoon start with Matt Wood adding just a single to his overnight total before he fell lbw to Luke Wright for 86. Patel made 91 before being caught by Murray Goodwin off Robert Martin-Jenkins.
