Samit Patel took two wickets before Nottinghamshire's friendly against Middlesex fell victim to wet weather.
Persistent rain meant just 24 overs were bowled with Middlesex reaching 140-3.
The two will contest a second one day friendly at Trent Bridge. Play starts at 10.45am and admission is free for all supporters.
