Alex Hales and Chris Read were the standout performers as Notts Outlaws beat Middlesex Panthers by 144 runs in the second one-day friendly at Trent Bridge.

Struggling for runs after low scores from Ali Brown (9), Samit Patel (10) and Adam Voges (0), Hales and captain Chris Read produced decisive knocks of 87 and 81 respectivelyas Nott posted 287 all out before bowling out Middlesex for 143 runs inside 37 overs.

Luke Fletcher took 4-19 whilst Andre Adams and Mark Ealham each took two wickets.

“We were in a bit of trouble but Alex and Chris led us to a good score and it was a very successful day of cricket,” said Mick Newell.

“Luke and Andre were probably our best bowlers today and we’ll give Alex an opportunity to play against Leicestershire on Sunday.”
