Sam Wood carried his bat for an undefeated 152 as Notts Academy enjoyed an emphatic 176-run victory over Bridon in their opening match in the Bassetlaw Championship.
 
Opener Wood hit 9 fours and 4 sixes facing 160 balls as Notts amassed 307-2 from their 50 overs. His partnership of 183 with Akhil Patel gave the Academy the start they were looking for.
 
Sam Kelsall shared in a stand of 63 with Wood before being dismissed for 18 brining young Trinidadian Kevon Cooper to the crease to play a cameo innings, scoring 40 from 16 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

In reply, Bridon reached 113-4 from 31 overs. Spooner (24) and Haycock (38) were both dismissed by Akhil Patel and Adam Shepherd took three quick wickets to leave the Bridon innings in tatters. Ben McGuire ended the game having Jamie Crookes caught behind.
 
Adam Shepherd had figures of 4-25, Akhil Patel 3-23, Ben McGuire 2-28, Will Jones 1-20 and although not claiming a wicket, Dominic Harvey returned figures of 6-3-7-0.
