Trent Bridge Retail Manager John Ellison has lent his support to a scheme that delivers unwanted cricket kit to impoverished nations.

Consignments of unwanted stock have been shipped to Africa and Asia under the co-ordination of retired solicitor Mike Stables who contacted Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in March to ask for donations to the cause.

The third batch of pads, gloves, helmets and shirts will be shipped to Colombo, Sri Lanka, before being distributed by Michael and other volunteers around the island.

“All of the equipment is put to good use and Michael has worked very hard to find sponsorship for the delivery and distribution,” said John.

“We have sent Notts CCC t-shirts, playground equipment and coaching manuals and it has all been gratefully received.”

Several other First Class Counties including Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire and Leicestershire have made contributions to the scheme.

Notts supporters can help the cause by depositing any unwanted kit or equipment at the Trent Bridge shop.
