Notts all-rounder Graeme Swann hopes to play a big part in England’s one-day series against New Zealand after being named alongside Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad in a 14-man squad.
Swann has been in good form for the Notts Outlaws, helping them to progress to the semi-finals of the Friends Provident Trophy, and opened the batting in the final group game against Leicestershire Foxes on Wednesday.
“I’ve been playing well for Notts and taking wickets and there’s definitely room for an off-spinner in the one day side, particularly in games at English grounds,” said Swann.
“The winter tour seems a long time ago now and we were disappointed not to win the series but we have a very good chance to put things right.”
Hampshire all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas has been included in the squad captained by Paul Collingwood but Andrew Flintoff was not considered for selection as he continues to recover from a side strain.
The two teams play a Twenty20 international on 13 June and the first ODI is on 15 June.
