Samit Patel hit five fours and a six on his way to a commanding score of 56 as Notts Outlaws continued their winning start in the Northern Division of the Twenty20 Cup with a 23-run win over Durham Dynamos.

The Outlaws posted a total of 166-6 from 20 overs and Durham Dynamos could only manage 143-8 in response, frustrated by a solid bowling performance from Rob Ferley who took 3-17.

Notts all-rounder Andre Adams dismissed Michael Di Venuto with his first ball to put Durham on the back foot but Dale Birkenstein and Will Smith scored useful runs in the middle order to keep the visitors in the hunt.

Bilal Shafayat caught Benkenstein for 34 and Adams held Albie Morkel on the boundary as the Outlaws took control.

Notts won the toss and batted first with opener Will Jefferson hitting 24 before his off stump was sent tumbling by Shaun Pollock who also had Adam Voges caught for two by Gordan Muchall.

Chris Cairns treated the Trent Bridge crowd to three sixes on his way to 37 and Chris Read and Bilal Shafayat batted out the innings unbeaten on 13 and one respectively.
