Scorecard

Samit Patel’s fine century was of little consolation as Notts lost out to Durham in the quarter-final of the Friends Provident Trophy.

Having staggered to 102-8, Patel produced an assured display with tail-enders Darren Pattinson and Charlie Shreck for company, racing from 50 to 100 in 30 balls before he was bowled by Ben Harmison for 114.

He took 3-27 from ten overs to help take the game to the final over and with nine wickets down, the Dynamos needed ten runs from the last eight balls and Gareth Breese took them past the post.

“Samit gave us something to bowl at and his score was vital for us given the lack of support from the top order,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“We took wickets and the pressure built but ultimately we are disappointed because we are out of the competition.”

Will Jefferson, Chris Read and Paul Franks all went for nought and when Patel entered the fray, Notts were 34-4.

Graeme Swann (18), Adam Voges (13) and Bilal Shafayat (14) were the other Outlaws to reach double figures.
