Nottinghamshire are mourning the death of Ground Manager and long-time member of staff Kevin Healy.

Mr Healy, who had been suffering from lung cancer, sadly died at the age of just 56 in the Park Hospital, Nottingham, with his family at his bedside.

He started working at Trent Bridge in April 1991 as assistant ground superintendent, later succeeding Ian Seagrave as ground superintendent.

Mr Healy was a Notts member since the days before he started work, and his wife Jan was also employed by the club for many years as a receptionist.

His funeral will be held at Wilford Crematorium on Wednesday February 6 at 12.40pm.

Notts Chief Executive Derek Brewer said: “Kevin was a Notts man through-and-through - totally dedicated to his job.

“He approached all of his work with the club’s best interests at heart and made a huge contribution behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Above all, he was a thoroughly nice man.

“Kevin bore his illness with tremendous courage and he will be very sadly missed by everybody at the club. Our heartfelt sympathies go to Jan and his children Jo, Katie and James.”
