Notts overseas star David Hussey looks set to make his international debut after being picked in a 13-man Australia squad to play India in a Twenty20 international on Friday.

The game takes place at his home ground of the MCG and if picked alongside older brother Michael, the pair would become the first brothers to play for Australia since Steve and Mark Waugh.

Cricket Australia’s chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch believes David Hussey could be a member of Australia’s 2009 Twenty20 World Cup squad and said: “This is recognition of David's outstanding form over the last few seasons, particularly in the (Australian domestic competition) KFC Twenty20.”

David was the outstanding batsman for Victoria in their third consecutive Twenty20 tournament win, finishing the tournament as the second highest run-scorer with 237 in six matches at a strike-rate of 153.89.

This winter he also has two half-centuries in the Ford Rangers Cup and 643 runs at 64.30 in Pura Cup matches, including two hundreds and five 50s.

And there could be more glory for David to follow this week, as the squad for the following One-Day International series will be announced on Thursday.
