David Hussey may not have got the chance to bat on his international debut for Australia but the Notts run-machine still enjoyed a busy weekend.

The 30-year-old took a catch and claimed the wicket of India’s captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni with his occasional off-spinners as the tourists were bowled out for just 74 in the Twenty20 international at Melbourne.

Australia duly knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket, denying Hussey (pictured with Michael Clarke) the opportunity to bat in front of his home crowd.

That didn’t stop him from joining in the celebrations - and he even got up at the crack of dawn the next morning to fly to Perth and play for Victoria in the Ford Ranger One Day Cup against Western Australia.

Despite only having three hours sleep, Hussey made 45 - and picked up another wicket - as Victoria claimed a win which keeps them in the hunt for another domestic trophy.
