Beneficiary Paul Franks is set to unveil a new bat grip designed to promote Cancer Research UK during the Twenty20 Cup.

The 28-year-old expects to recover from an ankle injury in time to feature for the Outlaws in the group opener against Derbyshire Phantoms on Friday, and will use the competition to show his support for research into testicular cancer.

He said: “Cancer Research UK is a charity close to my heart and it was always my intention to try and do something special during the benefit year.

“Using bat grips seemed a good way to show my support and the colour theme for testicular cancer is blue, which was pretty straightforward to organise.

“It’s important to raise awareness of a cancer that affects us as professional sportsmen, and show our support to help the continued development of treatments and medicine.”
