The giant opener, who moved to Trent Bridge from Essex at the end oflast season, will be part of a 14-man squad playing in a trio ofthree-day games and three more one-day fixtures.
Jeffersonbelieves his call-up was the result of his hard work in part-timevisits to the National Academy at Loughborough before Christmas, alongwith a 10-day batting camp in Mumbai.
Now he’s hoping to build onthat with some big scores in Bangladesh and said: “It’s a real bonusfor me to be involved in England A and now I need to make a statementto the selectors by scoring heavily.
“I got a real boost beforeChristmas when the Academy director Peter Moores invited me to takepart in his national skill-sets sessions, and someone must have seensomething they liked because I then went on to Mumbai before gettingthis call-up.
“As an opener I’m in a good position to put runs onthe board but I know that I have to do that within the team ideal,which is something the England hierarchy are very keen on.
“Myonly slight disappointment is that I’m missing out on the chance totrain with my new team-mates at Trent Bridge, but this is stillexcellent preparation for the summer.”
It’s an unlikely promotionfor the right-hander, who missed the opening part of the 2006 seasonwith a wrist injury and ended up only playing six matches for Essex.
But having made a full recovery from the injury, the 27-year-old is raring to get into action in England colours.
He added: “I feel like I’ve taken my opportunities very well since last summer and I hope that can continue.
“Ofcourse there will be difficult times to combat too but I believe I’mready for those and good or bad, will come back from the tour a bettercricketer.”
