David Hussey's final appearance of the season for Notts ended in anti-climax as heavy rain showers forced the NatWest Pro40 League match with Essex Eagles to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.

With both sides sharing a point each, the Outlaws appear to be out of the running for the Division One title, but Hussey is confident his team-mates can achieve their main goal of the season by winning promotion in the LV County Championship.

He said: "It's a bit disappointing to see my season finish like that, particularly as it feels like there is some unfinished business here.

"We set out to win Division Two in the Championship and I'm still convinced the boys can do that."

Hussey will be flying home to Australia tomorrow night for a training camp ahead of an 'A' tour of Pakistan.

And the 30-year-old is hopeful he can still push on and achieve his life's ambition of representing his country in the future.

He added: "The Australian selectors tend to pick players who are a bit more mature and experienced - my brother Michael and Brad Hodge are two examples.

"It will be a new experience to play in Pakistan but if I can do well and put my name in the frame for a full international cap, then fantastic."
