John Crawley was the nemesis of Notts yet again as his unbeaten 97 proved too much for the Outlaws in the NatWest Pro-40.

Notts Outlaws 214-8 (Hussey 81, Wagh 46)
Hampshire Hawks 218-4 (Swann 3-22)

Notts captain Stephen Fleming chose to bat first in the floodlit match at the Rose Bowl and the Outlaws’ total was again founded on big contributions from David Hussey and Mark Wagh, who put on 95 for the third wicket.

They had to consolidate after the early loss of both Graeme Swann and Stephen Fleming but gradually unfurled their strokes, with Hussey hitting two sixes in the closing stages.

Others chipped in with cameo knocks to make what looked like a reasonable total with the hosts batting second under lights.

But an opening stand of 88 between Crawley and Michael Lumb always left Notts chasing wickets.

Although Swann produced excellent figures of 3-22 from his eight overs, no-one else was able to stem the flow of runs, with Crawley hitting the winning runs with five balls to spare.
