Bicknell targets one more season
Date: May 25-28
Start time: 11am
Game: Gloucestershire v Notts
Competition: Frizzell County Championship Division One
The 37-year-old has started 2005 with a bang with four half-centuries and a hundred, and says he would love to play another season - provided he continues to score runs.
He said: "You're a long time retired and I will miss the dressing room atmosphere a lot. We've got a fantastic team spirit this year and there's isn't a bad apple in there.
"If I keep on proving to myself that I can contribute to Notts winning matches I would love to stay on but I have to be realistic about my age and fitness.
"I'll wait until later in the season before I make a final decision, but in the end I also have to show the management I'm worth another contract, so we'll wait and see how the summer pans out."
Bicknell is in a squad of 13 travelling to Bristol and the left-hander is confident we can get back to winning ways after our defeat to Kent at Trent Bridge.
He added: "We need to put the Kent result to bed and move on very swiftly. Gloucestershire are a team without any real superstars but they do have a terrific work ethic and back each other up.
"We'll need to work hard to beat them but we have to remember what a good start we have made. We've collected the most points from four games of anyone in the division and are still in a very strong position.
"And if Greg Smith and Graeme Swann are fit to play we will have a stronger bowling attack which can push us to another win."
Injury news:
Director of Cricket Mick Newell adds Smith and Swann to the XI that took on Kent.
Smith has recovered from a hamstring strain and Swann's shoulder injury has been rested.
AJ Harris has targeted the game with Hampshire for his return from a broken thumb.
Russell Warren has been playing for the Second XI against Durham this week in a bid to shake off his back problem and may be fit for the totesport League match with Essex on Bank Holiday Monday.
Squad:
Bicknell, Gallian, Singh, Fleming (cap), Hussey, Read (wkt), Patel, Ealham, Clough, Sidebottom, Newby, Smith, Swann.
