Paul Franks is aiming to use the National Academy tour of Sri Lanka as a springboard to an England recall this season. The Notts all-rounder sets off on England A's tour of the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka later this month and hopes to make a big splash with the selectors. He said: "I don't want to over-stress the issue but being selected for the Academy does provide a chance to put my name forward for discussion."It's the next step on the ladder and a successful tour can only help me push on further."I've had four months of hard work at Loughborough to get fit, tweak a few things and smooth out the edges to my game and I'm itching to get out and play."The 26-year-old is also looking forward to playing with new Notts team-mate Graeme Swann, who will be joining Franks on the tour.Added Franks: "It's been good fun to catch up with Graeme after our time in the England Under-19s and I know how much he is looking forward to playing at Trent Bridge."Like me, he is keen to get back in the England squad and he will further strengthen the Notts side with his off-spin and batting."Franks departs for the UAE on February 23 and will be keeping us up to date with a weekly diary on this website.
