Date: April 20-23
Start time: 11am

Game: Middlesex v Notts
Competition: Frizzell County Championship Division One

Our new captain arrived from New Zealand in time to take charge of the team in the Championship clash with Middlesex at Lord's and wants his players to express themselves in the dressing room and on the field.

He said: "I've not come here to wear the stripes and bark out orders. I'm very keen to bring in others and hear what they have to say.

"Although I won't be sitting back, I think I'll be a listener for the first month and a half that I'm here.

"We have a team of seasoned county cricketers here, with a few in contention for England selection, and their experience is going to be key to winning matches and competitions.

"Having talked to Chris Cairns, the systems in place here are very similar to what we have with New Zealand, which will help me settle in.

"I've come here to try and help Notts win competitions and to enjoy my cricket and I think my experience at international level will stand me in good stead for that."

The 32-year-old thinks we can be in contention in the Championship and added: "From my time with Middlesex and Yorkshire, I don't see much difference between Divisions One and Two and our squad know what is required to be successful.

"Mark Ealham is a player I've always admired, Chris Read, Paul Franks and Graeme Swann can all push for an England place, and our two left-armers Ryan Sidebottom and Greg Smith are proven wicket-takers.

"County cricket is a big challenge for me and one I'm looking forward to taking on."

Fleming comes in to the side to bat at number four. Russell Warren makes way.
