The 38-year-old had claimed at the start of the year that this summermight well be his last in the professional game but after helping Nottslift the Championship trophy for the first time since 1987, he?s hungryfor more success.

Said Bicknell: ?I don?t feel ready to pack up just yet. I think I?vegot more to achieve in the game and the desire to perform is stillthere.

?The key for me is that I?ve shown this season I still have the qualityto score runs in Division One. You?re a long time retired and it wouldbe a real shame not to be involved in a winning side as we try andretain the title.?

At the start of the final game against Hampshire, Bicknell has hit 1114first-class runs this season at an average of 50.63, with two hundredsand nine half-centuries.

He also won the Championship with Surrey in 1999 before moving to TrentBridge and Director of Cricket Mick Newell said: ?Darren has been afantastic player throughout his time in county cricket and remains aquality batsman.

?He?s had a great year for us and consistently provided a platform tobuild on at the top of the order in partnership with Jason Gallian.

?I didn?t have any hesitation in offering him another year and I?m sure he will have a big role to play in the team in 2006.?
