Awaiting Nottinghamshire First Class debut

Fast bowler Josh Tongue enjoyed a rollercoaster few years prior to joining Notts ahead of the 2024 season, having nearly given up the game due to a shoulder injury which necessitated surgery and botox, before taking five wickets on his England debut and starring in an Ashes Test at Lord’s.

As a 19-year-old in 2017, the right-armer burst onto the scene with 47 wickets in the County Championship as Worcestershire were promoted from Division Two.

A commendable record followed in red-ball cricket, averaging under 26 in the subsequent seasons before Covid.

An England Lions tour in the winter of 2022 brought him onto the radar of his international side’s senior team, and he was duly picked for England’s Test series against Australia after impressing against Ireland in the sole fixture prior.

Tongue represents Old Trafford-based outfit Manchester Originals in The Hundred, having made 30 professional white-ball appearances across List A and T20 cricket.
