Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 19 Apr 2012 v Somerset (h)

2013 was a watershed season for left-arm seamer Harry Gurney, who ended the summer as Nottinghamshire’s leading wicket taker.

Quickly becoming known for taking important wickets at the top of the order, and an increasing talent at the death, Gurney claimed 74 scalps across all competitions for his county.

Of those, his hat-trick against Sussex in June and the early wicket of Marcus Trescothick to set the tone for Notts Outlaws’ victorious Yorkshire Bank 40 semi-final stand tallest in the memory.

Arriving from neighbours Leicestershire for the 2012 season with a glowing reputation with the white ball, Gurney has developed further to be an integral part of Nottinghamshire’s plans in all formats.

Gurney’s excellent summer didn’t go unnoticed, as England hand-picked him to travel to Australia as a specialist left-arm net bowler. He was also included in the 16-man squad who travelled to the West Indies in February, and after a winter of net bowling will have his sights set on splaying stumps on the field this summer.
