Luke Fletcher

Luke Fletcher

Luke Fletcher’s development over the last couple of years has been rewarded with the county offering him a new 3-year contract which will keep him at Trent Bridge until at least the end of the 2014 season.

The strapping 6’6” seamer is a throw-back to bygone times, happy to toil all-day long in the pursuit of wickets. A regular selection in all three formats of the game, he enjoyed his most successful campaign in 2011, taking a total of 73 wickets, his best return to date.

A former England Under-19 international, Luke made his county debut at the start of the 2008 season, debuting against Oxford UCCE at The Parks and then playing in a succession of one-day fixtures.

In 2009, in just his fourth championship match, Luke gave an indication that he may one day be regarded as a true all-rounder by scoring 92 against Hampshire at The Rose Bowl. He has since registered a three figure score whilst batting for the county’s second team.

Having helped Notts to their 2010 LV= County Championship success he was one of the few to shine when the side travelled to Abu Dhabi to face the MCC at the start of their defence, securing four wickets in each innings of the match.

Four wicket hauls were becoming a regular occurrence for the Bulwell-born quick bowler until Lancashire visited Trent Bridge last summer and he took 5-82, new career-best figures.
