Andre Adams

Andre Adams

Few would back against Andre Adams completing a hat-trick of Nottinghamshire Player of the Year awards after his stunning performances in 2010 and 2011.

His lethal right-arm swing bowling brought him 67 first class wickets last term, just one fewer than the previous year when he led the attack to their LV= County Championship success.

Andre is one of the few modern players that are always guaranteed to ‘empty the bars’ whenever he walks out to bat.  His violent six-hitting continues to be a thorn in the side of all opposition captains and no-one in the English game hit more maximums in 2011 than the Auckland-born star.

It is with the ball, however, that his form and fitness remains so crucial to Nottinghamshire hopes, particularly at Trent Bridge where he picked up a career-best match haul of 11-85 against Hampshire last season.

Four weeks later he achieved a significant milestone by capturing his 500th first class wicket against Sussex at Hove. Thirteen years after his first scalp it was the dismissal of notable tail-ender Monty Panesar that brought about the achievement.

Earlier in his career Andre played in one Test match and 42 One Day Internationals for New Zealand but called time on his international availability when he was overlooked for the 2007 World Cup.

Whilst considering his options he became aware of an interest from Notts and he has continued to play in both hemispheres ever since.

During this past winter the all-rounder has returned to his homeland to continue his association with Auckland, as well as travelling to India to participate in the Champions League for their one-day side, The Aces.

He also appeared in the first Bangladesh Premier League, having been snapped up by eventual semi-finalists, Khulna Royal Bengals.

A firm crowd favourite, Adams has been at Trent Bridge since 2007 and has committed himself to remain with the club until the end of the 2013 campaign.

Of his remaining ambitions the Kiwi has expressed a desire to add to his tally of three first class centuries by scoring his first for Notts – a target which, if achieved, may well guarantee another Player of the Year trophy.
